Caller Features

Here is a list of common Dixie-Net Caller Features.

Call Waiting & Cancel Call Waiting

Call Waiting (CW) is active once subscribed. The subscriber may answer the new call by one of two methods:

  1. He may flash, placing the original call on hold and answer the new call, or

  2. He may place the receiver on-hook, in which case the phone will ring with the new call.

Cancel Call Waiting (CCW) needs to be activated or deactivated by your touch-tone phone. CCW is activated by dialing *70 before placing a call. This will automatically disable call waiting, and is useful for maintaining modem connections to an ISP.

Call Forwarding

Call Forwarding (CF) features need activation or deactivation. To activate call forwarding feature(s), can do it by using the following feature Codes:

  1. Go off hook, then dial the proper service code(s) for activation.

  2. Hear the recall dial tone, indicating the feature is activated.

  3. Input the number to which you want to forward the call.

  4. When the confirmation tone (two beeps) is heard, hang up. The feature is activated with the forward to number.

Note: There are a few types of numbers that can not be used as forward to numbers. They include 911, N11, 0+, and international numbers. If such types of numbers are entered, the subscriber will hear an announcement saying that he has entered an invalid number. If that is the case, the subscriber will have to re-enter the forward to number.

Codes:

  • *68 Activate Call Forwarding Busy Line. *88 to deactivate.

  • *92 Activate Call Forwarding Do Not Answer. *93 to deactivate.

  • *72 Activate Call Forwarding Variable. *73 to deactivate.

Caller ID

Calling Number Delivery (CND) is active once subscribed. It allows the subscriber to receive a calling party’s Directory Number (DN) during the ringing cycle, provided that the calling party has not blocked the delivery of his calling number. If he has, the subscriber will not be able to receive the calling number. CND cannot be activated if the subscriber has CID activated. Calling Identity Delivery (CID) forwards the calling party’s DN, name, date, and time to the subscriber line during the ringing cycle, provided that the calling party has not blocked the delivery of their calling identify. CND and CID are mutually exclusive. That is, the subscriber may have only one of the features active at any time. CND or CID are in service as soon as subscribed. No activation or deactivation is needed.

Three Way Calling

Three Way Calling allows the user (in the talking state) to add a third party to the call without operator assistance. Three Way Calling is active once subscribed.

To add a third party to the call, the TWC user puts one party on hold by pressing Hold or Flash; he then dials the number of the third party; when the third party picks up the call, the TWC user presses Flash again. Now all three are included in the call. The added party may be dropped from the connection by a flash from any TWC user.

Teen Service

Before subscription, the subscriber has one port with one DN. Upon subscription, the system user/administrator assigns additional DNs (maximum two) to this port. The original DN becomes the primary DN, and the additional DNs become the secondary DNs.

When a call comes on the primary DN, the phone will ring in the normal manner with standard ringing type (two seconds on, four seconds off); if the secondary DNs are dialed, the phone will ring with other ringing types (for example, one second on, one second off; or one second on, three seconds off). The ring types are predefined in the switch and hard coded in the CPML feature script. The system user/administrator does not have to configure them.
